The cord on this model is perfect for fashioning a bow drill fire making set in the bush. As well this model has the incorporation of a pressure relief valve, which when opened permits the release of trapped air and full insertion of the piston after use. After the valve is again closed, the piston is retained within the cylinder by vacuum as a safeguard against its accidental loss.
