The Vasque Breeze GTX XCR?is considered to be one of the lighter boots in its class.? The Gore-tex membrane makes these boots extremely breathable, and waterproof; on my last backpacking trip, I hiked approximately 16 miles in two days, and my feet didn't feel sweaty at all.? I've also submerged my boots in the lake, and my feet remained dry.
For a lightweight boot, the ankle support is quite decent.? The boots have saved me from a few potential ankle sprains.? Finally, the footbed is comfortable enough for me not to get blisters after hiking for more than 8 miles.
On a side note, similar to most composite boots,?the Vasque Breeze?require a short break in time.? When I first purchased them, I did not break them in enough prior to my first backpacking trip.? Consequently, my achilles were bruised by the end of the day.
